Our very own Bob Roach, CLU ChFC attended the 124th NAIFA Annual Meeting and Career Conference on Sept 28th (through Oct 1st). This was a special event because Northwestern Mutual's Robert Smith, CLU, ChFC, Wealth Management Advisor, of Grand Rapids Michigan, preceded over the conference, as its President. Rob is a former member of the Home Office Advanced Planning Division.
Also adding to the significance of this meeting for Northwestern Mutual was the presentation of the John Newton Russell Memorial Award presented to Northwestern Mutual Senior Representative, Richard Koob, CLU ChFC. This is the highest honor awarded in the life insurance industry! Dick has served as President of NAIFA (2002-2003) and has held numerous positions with, both, Million Dollar Round Table and the Society of Financial Services Professionals. Dick is also the past Chair of the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE).
There have only been three Northwestern Mutual Representatives who have received this prestigious award: Al Granum, John Todd, and now, Dick Koob. It was truly a momentous occasion and a proud moment for those in attendance from Northwestern Mutual to be part of Dick’s celebration.
The Career Conference was held in San Antonio, Texas. Bob said the quality of the speakers was all "top shelf". In addition to the sessions held by Dr. Will Miller, author of the bestseller, Refrigerator Rights, there were also sessions led by Ultimate Racer, Robin Venacasa; Career Coach, Gina Pelegrini; and former Editor of “Sports Illustrated”, Don Yager. According to Bob, all of the main platform presentations and numerous break-out sessions were phenomenal.

The Coaches Clinic took place at Ohio University in Athens, OH and the FRs that took advantage of this great opportunity invited clients and or prospects and their children to participate. The event included watching the local college team practice and a Q&A session with the head coach of the Bobcats, Jim Christian. The children also got to participate in an on-court clinic with a variety of practice drills and had an autograph session with the players and coach. There was a dinner afterwards for all attendees.
